With the International Day of Zero Waste just around the corner (30 March), it’s a good time to reflect on the small actions that build real momentum — especially when it comes to education and inspiring the next generation.
Sometimes I have the privilege of stepping away from day-to-day operations to deliver our Textile Champions workshops in our partner primary schools. Hopefully this work will help support our future leaders to embrace textile recycling and understand how they can contribute.
We’re never surprised by the enthusiasm and commitment of young people to want to do the right thing. It’s a reminder of why this work is important.

At Roberts Recycling, we’re proud to partner with hundreds of schools and community organisations across the North West of England and Wales — and in 2025, we’re taking things even further.
Alongside our collections, we’ve developed a growing suite of education resources for our partner schools, helping pupils to understand the importance of textile recycling and sparking conversations about their impact on the planet.
Our March theme was ‘Spring into Action’ — and our latest worksheet invited pupils to describe what a recycling hero looks like to them, and how they act. Often, it’s the small changes that can lead to a bigger impact.
We’re so excited to build on this work throughout 2025 and beyond, doing what we can to inspire the next generation to think and act sustainably.
